How to read this table
What's the difference between cash/wire and credit card prices?
Most dealers charge a surcharge of roughly 3 to 4 percent for credit card payments to offset processor fees. Paying by check or wire gets you the lowest posted price.
Why do premiums vary between dealers?
Dealers lock inventory at different spot prices, carry different overhead, and pass on volume discounts differently. A dealer that restocked during a dip may undercut one that bought at a peak, even on the exact same coin.
What is a good premium for a gold coin?
For a 1 oz sovereign or bar, expect 3 to 7 percent over spot in a normal market. Anything under 4 percent is strong; anything over 8 percent usually means you are paying a collector premium or shopping during a supply squeeze.

Premium Over Spot

Round-Trip Cost
Round-trip shows the total cost of buying and later selling back to the same dealer: the buy premium plus the buyback spread. This is the number most investors never see until it's too late.
