Understanding the Palladium Spot Price
The chart above plots the LBMA Palladium Price, the global benchmark for palladium pricing. The London Bullion Market Association publishes this price twice daily (AM and PM fix) based on electronic auctions among accredited market makers. The PM fix, shown here, is the most widely referenced benchmark in the industry.
Palladium is a platinum group metal with critical industrial applications. Its primary use is in catalytic converters for gasoline-powered vehicles, where it converts harmful exhaust emissions into less toxic compounds. Beyond automotive, palladium plays a role in electronics, dentistry, and chemical processing. Global supply is highly concentrated, with Russia and South Africa accounting for the majority of mine production, making palladium prices especially sensitive to geopolitical and supply-chain disruptions.
Spot price represents the cost of one troy ounce of palladium for immediate settlement. It does not include dealer premiums, fabrication costs, or shipping. When you buy physical palladium from a dealer, you pay the spot price plus a premium that covers minting, distribution, and the dealer's margin.
Use our premium calculator to determine the markup on any palladium product, or visit the premium tracker to compare real dealer prices side by side.
